clear brook of Kobo Daishi

Description
The steep Oyasaka slope was an ordeal for both man and cow. We stopped for a rest just short of the Ushikata Inn. I can't tell you how grateful both man and cow were to have a mouthful of nectar water from the stream that flowed down. It is said that one of the two stone boats is for people and the other is for cows. The stone Buddha of Kobo-Daishi looks down on the road from above on the left toward the cascading stream and watches over travelers. The path is slippery, so please watch your step.
